I can still remember spending hours and hours in front of my Apple II computer as I pounded the rock with Sweetness & Juice on the original John Madden Football. Fast-forward 18 years and I am still spending hours and hours with the game. But instead of hunkering down in the corner of the room, hoping that my parents wouldn’t catch me playing after bedtime, I am sitting in my recliner in front of a giant high-definition TV, holding a wireless controller in my hand. Instead of pixelated blobs for figures, there are 22 dynamic players flying all over the field with their own unique models and animations. Instead of one type of tackle, I am gang tackling and breaking guys down with the Hit Stick 2.0.

The game has changed dramatically over the years, but one thing has remained constant…our love for the game. Madden is all about passion, hanging out with your friends, and competition.

As we sat down this summer with Madden in our hands and began to prepare this guide, we asked ourselves what we wanted out of it. Our endeavor this year was to create a guide that was accessible to even the greenest of players, but with enough meat to satisfy even an 18-year veteran of the franchise. Inside the book we have included hardcore strategies that have never been put in a Madden strategy guide before. In addition to the hardcore info, we have expanded the team breakdown section of the book by adding an extra page for each team.

We are excited about this year’s guide and are confident that spending time with it will make you a better player, no matter what your level of skill. Take your time to go through the team sections, as there are some great resources here. Everything from helping you to pick a playbook, to scouting the opposition, to getting the right Player Weapons in at the right time is covered. No stone is left unturned. Read it, digest it, but most of all, enjoy the cultural and sports phenomenon that is…Madden NFL 08.
