I know...
I'm going to just save up and buy a new one. Maybe then it will stop freezing.

it's been a problem for most players. it's a new game and there is a lot in it. they are still making patches and trying to fix the bugs.

I haven't had a problem with it freezing *crosses fingers* It sometimes glitches a bit, but its never majorly frozen and I am using one of the original XBox's from 2005/6. It has been rebuilt following a RRoD incident a few years back though.....

Anyways, I guess its just luck of the draw - I had a MAJOR freezing problem with Fallout New Vegas - but all my other games work fine.

Might just be that both of these games are so graphics intensive. Beautiful games, but a huge drain on the systems capabilities. Try clearing your cache and see if that helps.

I play on PC and as of update 1.3.10, it's been smooth sailing. On the other hand, my friend received Skyrim for PS3 as a gift and he is having some great difficulty. Whenever he gets into a dragon encounter, his framerate drops to about 1 FPS. No way to see the actual FPS, but it's horrible.

My advice to him was buy a PC! But I know that's not the case for everyone. If you're playing on 360, just be greatful you're not playing on PS3 and hope an update comes along quickly.

PS3 version is great and running ALMOST flawless. There have been, however, two instances where the game "froze" for about 35 seconds each time. What I did instead of turning off the console was repeatedly push the active button on the controller. This allowed me to go to the main menu where I have the option to quit the game, turn off the controller or turn of the console. It also allows me to go back to the game where it paused.

Oh... and yes, psychoaid, freezing has been the biggest problem to date in virtually all copies of Skyrim on all console formates, INCLUDING pc!

I was going to offer the same advice for him dnomarz. My friend always had his game lock up during the Dark Brotherhood initial quest where you sleep in a bed. As soon as the screen went dark his xbox would start whirring loudly and nothing would happen (he has an Elite system). A few of my friends were having this issue and one figured out that if you hold down the home button for long enough, the xbox guide noise sounds and the game resumes play as normal.

As a side note, this also fixes some crazy menu freezing I get when I load up MW3 for the first time and go to Multiplayer.
