According to the New York Times, he died yesterday evening at the age of 66.

Clancy is one of those few authors who found crossover success with a number of mediums. Not only did several of his books get adapted into popular Hollywood films, including The Hunt For Red October and Clear and Present Danger, but he also struck gold in the video game world, including such franchises as Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six and Splinter Cell, which recently added Blacklist to the franchise.

His latest project with the company, the multiplayer-oriented action/strategy game The Division, is set for release next year for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Our thoughts are certainly with Clancy’s friends and loved ones. He will be missed.
