Animal Crossing: New Leaf Diary Day 3- What a Slacker

So many bugs and fish to catch.

It’s been a while since I posted in this Animal Crossing: New Leaf diary.  That’s what the Electronic Entertainment Expo will do to someone.  Hours were spent wandering the show floor last week playing Nintendo’s upcoming games, including Super Mario 3D World and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.  Considering these titles won’t appear in stores until later this year, the temptation to get my hands on them early was too great.

Thankfully, I spent afternoons and evenings tending to the Animal Crossing town of Delfino.  Turns out, a lot happened despite time constraints.

First, I finally paid off the 10,000 bells to Tom Nook.  My house isn’t much to look at, but with the promise of adding more floors and rooms, it should fill out in no time.  Selling regular old items at Re-Tail won’t fill my bank account quick enough, but rumblings of a tropical island populated with exotic treasures piqued my interest.  For more information on that, read our Tortimer Island eGuide. Definitely looking forward to visiting this place.

In the meantime, I purchased a bug net from Nookling Junction for 500 bells, so now I alternate between catching fish with the rod and tracking down insects on land, the majority of which get sold immediately; apologies to Blathers, Museum curator.

While on the subject of apologies, I owe a big one to Isabelle.  My trusted and loyal assistant continues to request my presence at Town Hall to kick start mayoral duties, and I’ve done my best to ignore her for no other reason than I’m too busy fishing, bug hunting and buying fortune cookies from Timmy and Tommy Nook.  You can redeem the fortune tickets for prizes, but can only purchase one cookie per day.  Thus far, everything’s Nintendo themed.  First I received the Super Star from the Mario series (set this up inside your house to hear the familiar invincibility theme), then some Pikmin-themed headgear.  Who has time to be mayor?

Also discovered a neat feature where animals request specific items when you pass by.  One creature wanted to know if I had any furniture, which I did in the form of a bubble chair. For handing it over, I received a cool astronaut-themed t-shirt that I put on immediately.  My character’s appearance, while adorable, has begun to eat at me, so it’s only a matter of time before his wardrobe becomes a point of interest.

Before this happens, I’m off to town hall to check my approval rating.  It’s time to see what life as mayor is like.
