The new and massive Battlefield 3 patch is now available to download on the PlayStation 3 - and brings the opportunity to rent servers.
This idea was revealed at GDC earlier this month by DICE, who are implementing a soft launch - gamers won't see it reach full capacity until next week.
It's possible to have both ranked and private servers with this new service. Tough private servers do come with a few mandatory rules. Server tools are accessed from within the game so there's no need for a computer for management.
The new patch is an entire gigabyte in size, if you're a lucky owner of the Back to Karkand DLC and want to take advantage you will have to download it again - that's if you didn't re-download it from 13th March.
