We begin with a glimpse of Jodie captured along with her comrade, Ryan. The chapter then shifts back to Jodie and her group venturing in a brutal, chilly blizzard. The team is in search of an underwater base, where bad guys construct a new machine to open a rift to the other side.

Find Some Shelter

The blizzard is too severe for the team to continue their search, so they build shelter to warm up a bit. You take control of Aiden at the start. Head straight and look to your left; there’s an enclosed cabin the team can stay in for now (this house is next to a shipwreck). Check the interior. Once spotted, switch back to Jodie and lead the team to the cabin on your skis. Then take off your skis and enter the house.

No Restroom

Inside the cabin, you can talk to Ryan if you’d like (Jodie shows no remorse for him). Check your bags for some warm coffee and a sticky bomb. Jodie will soon mention she needs to release her fluids. Head outside and go into the ruined house across from the cabin. You’ll need to sit down behind the barrels. A cinema will ensue, and Jodie spots armored trucks that pass through. Return to the cabin and let the others know of the enemies’ presence.

Follow the Tracks

Jodie alerts the team of the armored trucks. Ryan suggests they’ve got a lead. Follow the tire tracks through the blizzard. The tracks lead the team to a bunker gate. Switch to Aiden and head inside the bunker. Snoop around and get a good look at what’s inside (most importantly, the three militants present). Ryan then orders Aiden to take the soldiers out.

Eliminate the Soldiers

First, possess the soldier roaming around the dock. Then approach the guard in the computer room located in the far corner. Draw your handgun from behind and shoot him. Second, approach the soldier working on the submarine in a prone position. As before, shoot him. Now look for a switch in the corner computer room; hitting it will open up the bunker’s gate and allow the team to enter the base.

Come Up with a Plan

When the team enters the base, you’ll regain control of Jodie (thanks to a gunshot). Approach the submarine from the left-side dock and pick up the soldier’s uniform. This triggers a cut scene – Jodie plans to pilot the submarine, don a dragon uniform and infiltrate the base. Ryan joins her.

Subway

After the cut scene, Jodie and Ryan get settled inside the submarine. Activate the switches beside Jodie to get it running. Then steer the control downward to venture deep into the sea. The controls for the sub are basic and the route to the base is extremely streamlined. Just head forward through the tunnel and follow the lights. Use the radar on the top-left portion of the screen to navigate through the turns. The base is roughly a two-minute ride, so you should be there in no time.

Torturous Situation

As Jodie and Ryan arrive at the base, you’ll witness a cinema. The chapter cuts ahead where the two are held captive: someone tied up Ryan and hung him by his hands with rope, while Jodie is bound to a chair. The Dragon’s leader will begin interrogating Jodie. You have a decision to make here: talk and reveal the team’s intentions, or say nothing. If you avoid talking, Ryan will pay a consequence and lose his eye. If you speak, the captain will be a little more forgiving (and you’ll earn a separate trophy). Whatever you choose, the commander will leave and the story shifts back to the two arriving at the underwater base from the submarine.

Underwater Base

Arriving at the underground base, open the latch and exit the submarine. The Dragon crew is already onto Jodie and Ryan, but have yet to recognize them. You have two options at this point: possess the commander or get apprehended. Both lead to the torture scenario afterward.

Possess the Commander

Stay a fair distance from the crew and switch to Aiden. The commander is the only crew member keeping an eye on Jodie and Ryan. Possessing the commander will have you take control of him. Here, you’ll lead Jodie and Ryan into the hallway. Open the door by swiping the card on the panel at the red-colored door ahead. You will run into a problem: a paranormal barrier is placed beyond the corridor and will recognize Aiden’s presence (and the commander regains his consciousness). Jodie and Ryan are then brought to the torture room, while Aiden stays behind.

Say Hi

For the easy route to the torture room, simply walk right up to the militants and get caught. Or you could take a detour of the hideout. A similar cut scene will take place, but Jodie and Ryan are still brought to the torture room. Aiden is abandoned as well.

All Alone

For the first time in the game, you take control of Aiden without the connectivity with Jodie. You can roam mostly anywhere and not have to worry about any boundaries, but your main goal is to get to Jodie at this point. Begin by exiting the barrier hall. You need to disable that barrier blocking Aiden. There are couple ways to do this. Check them below.

The Easy Way

For the fastest route, head inside the weapons room (with the gun labeled-door) and kill the soldier at the workbench. Now possess the fellow in the bunk room (with the bed-labeled door). Snag the assault rifle in the weapons room, then head inside the terminal room (with the TV logo). Shoot the guards inside. Aiden will then disable the power to the paranormal barrier.

The Fun Way

Enter the bunkroom with the bed-labeled door. Possess the soldier sleeping in the bottom bunk, then head in the maintenance room (labeled with a wrench). Pick up the wrench from the tool box. Now head inside the weapons room (with the gun label) and knock out the guard at the workbench. Grab the assault rifle in here and then enter the terminal room nearby (with the TV logo). Shoot the guards in here. Aiden will then disable the paranormal barrier.

Reunite with Jodie

Now that the spiritual barrier is destroyed, Aiden can reach the room Jodie is being held captive in. Note that other entities are released once this shield is destroyed (they won’t be a problem yet). You’ll need to find Jodie, but it’s rather simple – just follow the purple beam that connects the two of them together. Once you find her, you’ll need to heal her wounds; one on the leg, the other on her shoulder. Afterward, blast the door open with Aiden.

Sweet Escape

With Aiden and Jodie bonded back together, it’s time to locate Ryan. Luckily, he’s held in the room directly across from Jodie. Head inside (as Aiden) and tend to his wounds. When he’s healed, break down the door. The two will regroup. Jodie sends him to the submarine to plan an escape route, while she decides to venture on a quest: close the condenser for good.

Grab the Explosives

You are now in control of Jodie again. She mentions she needs to obtain the explosives that were brought on the mission. The bombs are located in the interrogation room nearby (with the gun-labeled door). The room is guarded by the commander’s partner, but it’s nothing Aiden can’t handle. Choke the man out, then enter the room and snag the explosives on the large red crate.

The Abyss

With the explosives in hand, head straight and proceed right (through the red-colored hall). This leads you to a docking bay. See that nifty suit hanging on the bracket? Grab it and suit yourself up – we’re going underwater. Once Jodie dons the diving gear, descend into the pool via the ladder. On the ocean floor, switch on your light (press X) to improve your sight.

Blinded by the Light

Move towards the rift. Surrounding the condenser are three cores highlighted with green lights. Your task is to plant an explosive on each core so Jodie can set a detonation timer. They’re all in close-proximity, so you’ll have this done in a jiffy. Upon placing the third explosive, the camera pans to the entities above you. Ignore it for now and concentrate on getting out of there.

Sea Monster

Follow the lighted path (the same way you came in). As you attempt to leave, an evil entity (in the form of a sea monster) appears in the aquatic. It seems the monster is rather hungry at the moment and wants Jodie for dinner. Begin escaping the beast by running in the opposite direction (tap X rapidly). Jodie will soon return to the Dragon’s base.

Final Fight

Returning to the ship, Jodie will encounter the Dragon’s commander. He won’t go down without a fight, however, and is rather angered by the prevention of his project. Evade his attacks and follow the quick-time prompts; soon enough, the sea entity will crash the party and attempt to take the base down. Your only goal now is to escape the base  on the verge of sinking.

Escape the Base

There are several obstacles in your path when escaping the base, most notably the water that floods in. Sway away from the threats and keep moving. Be ready to dodge the entities, the shattered glass and a soldier that grabs you. As you reach the flooded room, head left and climb over the wreckage blocking the door. At the main gate, tap X repeatedly to make it to the submarine dock. Ryan will soon surface with the sub.

Unfortunately, the sub sustained tremendous damage after the cinema presented to you (try turning on the switch panel). The only option left is to swim your way out – get up, exit the sub hatch and then swim to the ocean’s surface. Press the button cue rapidly to surface the ice ledge. If you don’t make the swim, you’ll receive the bad ending. Refer to the Alternate Ending section at the end of this guide.

Best Time to Ask

If you make it out of the Dragon’s hideout safely, Jodie and Ryan will breach the ocean’s surface and make it to land. Here, the two of them have a conversation and it’s revealed Ryan has strong feelings for Jodie. A decision is placed in front of you here; in essence, it’s a yes or no question. The choice is yours.

Alternative Ending

If you fail to escape the base before it sinks (or fail the swim from the submarine), Jodie will fall unconscious or drown. Ryan will come to the rescue, and you’ll get the bad ending to this chapter. It seems Jodie is done for.
