Borderlands Getting New Vault Hunter This Summer – Meet Krieg

Say hello to this new psycho killer!

Just when you think you’ve played everything that Gearbox Software has to offer with its mega-sequel Borderlands 2, along comes an interesting new challenge.

The team has announced a sixth Vault Hunter who will be joining the party in the next few months, an uncommon psychotic by the name of Krieg.  Utilizing a split personality that makes him part calm and part raving lunatic, Krieg uses a powerful buzz axe to do major damage, homing fireballs and the ability to up his health in a time of crisis.  He also has a Blood Trance mid-tier skill that’s useful when it comes to fueling his Buzz Axe Rampage – perfect for larger enemies.

He also has a pair of skill trees, including the Hellborn tree (which allows him to catch on fire and use it to his advantage) and the Mania tree (which runs a risk of decreasing his health, but increasing his attacks).

Krieg isn’t too far off, as he’ll be making his debut in the game this coming Tuesday for both Xbox Live, PlayStation Network and PC.  He’ll set you back $10 (800 Microsoft points).  Wouldn’t it be ideal if you played the Talking Heads’ “Psycho Killer” while playing as him?  Just saying.

Borderlands 2 is available now for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
