It’s finally been confirmed by Capcom that Dead Rising 2 is in development.
Dead Rising 2 places the player in the world of the first game a few years later on, and the virus has spread through the US.
A press release from Capcom says the game takes the franchise to “a whole new level”, where there’s “tens of thousands” of zombies to kill. There’s a new “gambling paradise” by the name of Fortune City, for players to explore, with a load of new objects to cause destruction with.
The game is being made by Blue Castle Games, who made baseball game The Biggs. There are people helping from the original Dead Rising team though, including Keiji Inafune, who is playing “an active role” in the making of the game.
Dead Rising 2 will be coming to PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, the release date is not yet known.
