With the release of Destiny: House of Wolves, a lot of our Subclass configurations have changed. We’ve started to find uses for things we hadn’t needed in the past, or at the very least gained a new level of appreciation for them. For example, our Titan was our least played class (not that we don’t love the Titan), but now that Ward of Dawn is so insanely useful, we’ve spent a lot of time with this guy over the last several weeks.
In case you’re struggling with the Prison of Elders, Wanted Bounties, or anything else related to Destiny: House of Wolves (well, Destiny in general), we wanted to share some of our favorite Subclasses with you, and show you how we set them up. We’ve already done this for the Hunter and the Warlock, so today we’ll take closer look at the Titan.
Titan – Defender
With some of the Prison of Elders boss fights, Ward of Dawn can give you and your team the break that you need to survive. It can also provide some useful buffs to help you take down your opponent. With this configuration, our goal is to protect our team, generate Light, and increase the amount of damage they do while the Ward of Dawn Super Ability is active.
- Grenade: Magnetic Grenade
- Lift: Increased Height
- Ward of Dawn: Weapons of Light
- Disintegrate: Gift of Light
- Tier I: Titan Codex II
- Ability Modifier: Bastion
- Tier II: Titan Codex IV
- Ability Modifier: Illuminated
We should also note that if you are wearing the Helm of Saint-14 Exotic Helmet, any enemy that walks into your Ward of Dawn will be blinded. This is extremely useful in some of the Prison of Elders rounds where you’re finding that the opposition is starting to overrun you.
As for the configuration itself, the Magnetic Grenade is just fun, but you can swap it with what you prefer the most. The same goes for Lift, as we choose Height to allow us to get into some of the more hard to reach cheese spots. The Gift of Light option on Disintegrate is amazing, as it will generate an Orb of Light for every melee kill you get while Force Barrier (the thing you get when you use Disintegrate) is active. With the Bastion modifier, we get longer use out of our Ward of Dawn, and with Illuminated we give a buff to the Weapons of Light option we have above. This means that several Guardians who want to take a boss down in a big hurry have a much better shot at it.
Titan – Striker
This is definitely the more offensive Subclass when it comes to the Titan, and the Fist of Havoc Super Ability is one of the most fun things to use in the game. We’ve all heard a Guardian tell us to move out of the way and watch as he obliterated the Hive on The Dark Below story mission. If you can’t relate, take the Striker Subclass and give it a shot, it’s a load of fun. Anyway, here is how we like to configure our Striker, and as always you can copy our design or simply modify it to fit your play style better.
- Grenade: Any
- Lift: Increased Height
- Fist of Havoc: Death from Above
- Storm Fist: Amplify
- Tier I: Titan Codex II
- Ability Modifier: Headstrong
- Tier II: Titan Codex IV
- Ability Modifier: Shoulder Charge
As you can see from looking at our suggestions and the descriptions of each in-game, this is all about maximum devastation in an up close and personal way. Storm Fist is a powerful melee option to start with, but with Amplify it reduces the cool down of Fist of Havoc, allowing you to use it more. As well, this configuration allows you to aim your Fist of Havoc using the Death from Above variation. For the player who really enjoys getting their hands dirty, this design should give you some really fun options.
