While Fez on the Xbox Live Marketplace is a magical experience for most of those who downloaded it, there are a certain few that are having trouble with the game upon the introduction of a patch made by Polytron. The developer took the patch off-line and tinkered with it, and most recently returned it online, allowing users to get over most of the problems it experienced. But still, it’s not quite perfect, as less than one percent of users are still having problems.
Unfortunately, there’s not much that can be done, as Polytron has stated that this patch won’t be receiving any more fixing. A post on the Polytron blog (link: http://polytroncorporation.com/were-not-going-to-patch-the-patch) has revealed that it can’t be resolved any further because “Microsoft would charge us tens of thousands of dollars to re-certify the game.” It’s a slight save problem (mainly affecting those who beat the game already), but one that will affect players’ progress through the game. However, Polytron reassures that the “current patch is safe for an overwhelming majority of players.”
Polytron did make an apology about the matter, stating, “To the less than 1 percent who are getting screwed, we sincerely apologize. We know this hurts you the most, because you’re the ones who put the most times into the game. And this breaks our hearts. We hope you don’t think back on your time spent in Fez as a total waste.”
Sigh…oh, Microsoft.
