This feature will break down the Team of the Week challenge currently available as part of FUT (FIFA Ultimate Team) in EA Sports’ FIFA 16. Each week you’ll see a brand new Team of the Week made up of players who achieved great things for their respective franchises the week before. Depending on the difficulty you’ll pay a different entry fee. Weaker difficulties cost 100 coins or less, while the expert AI require thousands. Naturally, the tougher the challenge the sweeter the reward, but there’s also the chance you’ll catch a beat down from what is essentially an all-star team. Sure, some of the players may stand in the shadows of guys like Messi and Ronaldo, but Team of the Week represents a balance between the cream of the proverbial crop and players who did awesome stuff in those seven days, regardless of popularity. Thankfully should you lose, FIFA will reimburse the entry fee in various participation trophies (yes, an award for trying) and match bonuses. If you’re confident in your skills and have thousands of coins to spend, go for it.
Now for the best news. The coins you pay to battle the Team of the Week is a one time entry fee. You won’t have to shell out several thousand coins each time to beat these guys. On the downside, match bonuses and rewards decrease in value the more you replay the same squad. This prohibits players from farming Team of the Week mode for high value assets, while at the same time allowing those who play nice the chance to earn the extra hundred of so coins to buy a silver pack of cards or most wanted player.
Bottom line, Team of the Week is a great way for players of all skill levels to quickly receive some FUT assets while at the same time learning the intricacies of the game and having real-world sports moments to discuss at the virtual water cooler. You’ll even be able to scout these starters and subs to perhaps improve your own FUT team later on; with so much happening week to week, player ratings are bound to spike up and down depending on what the actual footballers do on the pitch.
