Ubisoft has included a quick and easy cover system in Ghost Recon Future Soldier, use it to your advantage.

To make effective use of cover and minimize the amount of time your character is exposed, get the hang of running to cover, peeking out to check for danger, then quickly running to the next point of cover.

This isn't Call of Duty, running around like a crazy dude is going to get you killed soldier, so man up and cover up!
