Guillermo del Toro Still Shopping Around Insane Project

THQ may not be behind it, but the director is keeping the warped dream alive.

Guillermo del Toro is keeping rather busy this week at the New York Comic Con, hyping his own Pacific Rim movie and lending a hand to The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, a movie he helped co-write alongside director Peter Jackson.  But that doesn’t mean he’s leaving other projects on the shelf, as he still wants to produce his previously announced video game series, Insane.

The game, which was first expected to come out over through THQ and later canned due to the publisher’s troubles, still hasn’t been fully revealed yet, but Toro is still in the works of making it happen.  Talking to Kotaku, he explained, “Now we are talking to developers.  When something doesn’t happen in one way, I just continue pursuing it in another way.  I’m not giving up on Insane.”

On a cool video game side note, del Toro hired Ellen McClain, the voice behind GLADoS from the Portal series, to voice one of the robots in Pacific Rim.  “I called the guys at Valve and said, you know how much I am a fan of Portal, can the AI be GLADoS?” he stated.  Very cool on his part.

Look for more information on Insane as it becomes official.
