Everything you need to know about the Bucs.

With EA Sports celebrating the silver anniversary of Madden NFL Football, there’s a lot to get excited about this virtual season. Donny Moore, associate producer on Madden NFL 25 at EA Sports Tiburon, believes this could be a big year for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That said, Moore offered tips to ensuring the Bucs have a productive year.

Why the Bucs?

The Bucs are my hometown squad. But most importantly, in Madden NFL 25, the Bucs’ roster has a great mix of offensive and defensive talent that can compete with any team in the NFL.

What advice would you give to someone playing as the Bucs on the offensive side of the ball?

Utilize the running game.  Feed the Muscle Hamster (RB Doug Martin). With Guards Carl Nicks and Davin Joseph on the O-Line healthy and ready to go in 2013, make sure you use a healthy dose of Doug Martin on early downs to keep the defense honest.

What’s the best way to take advantage of new offensive gameplay features with the Bucs and its players?

Hand the ball off to Doug Martin and let the new offensive line AI logic take over and work its magic. With former NFL OL Clint Oldenburg on the Madden NFL 25 design team, it allowed us to tap into Clint’s wealth of real-world NFL knowledge and get authentic blocking matchups and offensive linemen AI into the game this year. What that did for the offense in Madden NFL 25 this year is turn an already effective running game into a powerful one. The key for me though in terms of running the football in Madden NFL 25 – wait for blocks to develop and lay off that Acceleration Burst.  If you don’t hit the hole at the right time, you’ll waste your speed burst in the backfield when you should have saved it to explode through the hole that the OL created.

What are some strengths of the Bucs on the defensive side of the ball?

Hello Darrelle Revis!  Nothing better as a fan when you see the front office of your favorite team going out and trading for the #1 lockdown CB in the NFL. Dashon Goldson was another huge coup for the Bucs secondary this off-season.  Don’t forget a line-backing group led by Lavonte David, who reminds me of old-time Bucs Hall of Famer #55 Derrick Brooks. Lastly, DT Gerald McCoy is the new Warren Sapp of the defensive front.  He generates a lot of pressure with his 96 Power Moves rating, and he is my personal favorite to control while on defense.

What’s the best way to take advantage of new defensive gameplay features with the Bucs and its players?

No more Tampa 2 Zone. Weird to say (after so many years with the legendary Tampa 2 defense that the Bucs practically invented), but now with the addition of Mr. Darrelle Revis, the Bucs can play a lot of straight up man coverage this year, and that should allow you to bring some pressure or maybe add that 8th defender to the box in more obvious run situations – and not worry about getting burned deep because you have 99 Man Coverage-rated Revis out there on one side.

Madden NFL 25 debuts on multiple platforms August 27th.
