1) Always bring support. This could be a tech expert that uses overload or a biotic that uses warp. Even a ranged soldier class companion would help. 2) Don't charge the leaders. Focus your biotic charge ability on the weaker enemies and get your companions to attack the leaders via step one. 3) Invest in the fire ammo, not the cryo ammo. 4) Know where you're targeting the biotic charge. Don't charge into an open area without any cover around. 5) Only upgrade the shotgun, it's your best friend in this class.
