My Favorite ME2 Class and why it's the best!02/14/12
My favorite class, like everyone else, is the soldier class. It's probably the most well liked because it's arguably the best. With usage of every type of weapon except SMGs it has a lot of tactical variation to match your play type. With all this variation, it's easy to see why it's the best. Getting long ranged by a biotic or Geth? Pull out your sniper! Getting charged by a Krogan with a shotgun? Pull out your shotgun and duke it out!

My strategy for the soldier class is pretty straight forward. I invest in Disruptor and Incendiary ammo completely. Disruptor ammo makes quick work of geth and mechs which are quite common throughout the game.
Incendiary ammo takes care of organic enemies and rips right through armor health bars. I some times relocate skill points for variation and for fun and switch from incendiary to cryo. Incendiary is preferable if you ask me since one bullet can set a group of enemies on fire for some extra damage.
Adrenaline rush is the ability unique to the soldier. Let me tell you, it's one of the best, if not the best ability in the game. I always make sure to max out my adrenaline rush because it is a very powerful skill that not only slows down time to line up a shot, but deals lots of extra damage too.
I make sure to max out my commando skill tree. I always opt for the one that increases damage and health more, rather than paragon/renegade. Finally all that's left its concussive shot, cryo ammo (which we already discussed), and your unique skill handed down by a loyal squad mate.
Concussive shot really isn't that useful if you ask me because enemies with shields and armor often aren't effected. So that leaves the choice to one of the many skills taught by a loyal squad mate. The final skill, I usually always pick is geth shield boost from Legion.
If you're in a pinch and about to bite the dust just use this and not only are your shields all the way recharged, but they have more durability than before! So my strategy in gun fights is usually:
Step One - Find suitable cover and tell my squad mates to find cover as well. I tell them quite often to take cover that is further forward then mine to draw more fire to them while I pick off the enemies. It may seem cruel, but I can always revive them using unity if they die.
If Sheppard dies, that's game over. To make the positioning more tactical, I always separate them the my left and right. This way they draw even more types of fire from all directions.
Step Two - ADRENALINE RUSH ALL DAY. This is pretty self explanatory. With the aided aiming due to time dilation and massive damage boost I can take out multiple enemies with one usage. Just keep repeating 'till the board is wiped clean.
Step Three - Improvise if you need to. It's not always gonna be a straight forward fight. Switch between your disruptor and inferno ammo if you gotta. Different situations call for different weapons. Usually the assault rifles are preferable but you never know.
In terms of which weapons I use. Thanks to the DLC content called the "Firepower pack". You can get your hands on the best assault rifle in the game! The X-96c Mattock Heavy Rifle is a single fire assault rifle but boasts amazing range, accuracy and damage.
The Geth Plasma Shotgun is a shotgun with a charge shot that does ridiculous damage when charged and has great range for a shotgun. The M-5a Phalanx Heavy Pistol is great too! It uses a laser sight for improved accuracy and has great damage and fire rate.
The incisor sniper rifle, if you ask me, is not as good as the Widow Anti-Material sniper found in the collector ship, but it's still good if you didn't choose the Anti-Material Rifle. The Incisor has a burst shot and a way better fire rate, but the widow makers accuracy and damage are unparalleled.
I usually use the Mattock, Geth Plama, Phalanx, Widow Maker and don't let me forget, the heavy weapon that literally fires a nuke at the opponent, the M 920 Cain!
I hope you liked my strategy guide and I hope it wasn't too long... I didn't know if you wanted a concise response or not. This is the strategy I used to clear the game on insane difficulty, just so you know I have the credentials, haha. Check my gamertag if you don't believe me! Ace Psyduck
