The soldier class in Mass Effect 2 is in my opinion the best class due to the weapon versatility.

In Mass Effect 2 depending on the difficulty you play there can be a shortage of ammo to meet your destructive needs. With the soldier class though the chances of encountering such a problem lowers with your ability to wield every weapon with the exception of SMGs. Everyone else on your team is limited to two types of weapons. Sniping becomes easier with the adrenaline rush ability, your armor effective gun may also be effective against shields and barriers with the disruptor ammo or even more deadly with incendiary rounds. Enemies closing in? No problem let me take out my shotgun, casually walking and get surprised? Meet my pistol and assault rifle. Giant threshar maw trying to eat my baby Krogan? Meet my heavy artillery. Soldier class is the most effective class for playing since you have an ace team to cover the lack of biotics or tech.
