Tactics
Evolved to focus on power damage and force, the sentinel makes for a great sweeper that can mix respectable crowd control with an excellent potential for single target damage. The Mattock assault rifle provides a good balance between ranged damage and power cooldowns. Garrus brings high powered, precise, armour piercing weapons along with powers that excel at stripping targets' shields or barriers. James acts as a mobile front line soaking up enemy fire and attention while returning fire with a torrent of incendiary rounds, along with powers that excelt at tearing apart enemies' armour.
Throw evolved to launch two projectiles at once allows Shepherd to keep large numbers of unarmoured and unshielded targets essentially disabled, especially considering throw's rapid cooldown. Anything with an exposed health bar is fair game for being thrown like a toy, while being unable to react or attack. This keeps the weight of return fire on the squad down, letting them mop up weaker threats with ease using their Revenants.
For tougher targets with layers of protection, the augmented strength of the sentinel's Warp and Overload powers allow any enemy defenses to be stripped very quickly. Once the defenses are down, other powers can be brought to bear along with squadmates' heavier weapons and Shepherd's Mattock.
For especially tough targets, using both Shepherd's Cryo Blast and Warp on the same enemy, both evolved to reduce a target's damage resistance, will greatly magnify the damaging effect of powers and weapons used on that target for a period of time after. Shepherd can then use Warp or Overload rapidly on the target as appropriate, while also calling on the squadmate with powers suited to removing the current enemies' defense. Garrus for shields and barriers, Vega for armour. Having Garrus and Vega switch over to their other weapons, Javelin and Spike Launcher respectively, allow the squadmates to deal out high damage to a severely weakened enemy while their powers cool down.
