Nintendo Power Officially Closes Its Doors, Xbox World and PSM3 Aren’t Far Behind

It appears that print media is going the way of the dodo, one at a time.

Ever since they made the announcement back in August, we’ve been sad about the demise of the classic Nintendo Power publication – especially considering how popular it could’ve been in the face of the launching Nintendo Wii U.  But now the truth has set in, as writer Phil Theobald has confirmed that the offices are closed, and the final issue is ready to go.

“The Nintendo Power office is packed up, and we’re close to shutting it down,” he tweeted.  “Thanks for all the kind thoughts and words of support, folks.”

The final issue will be hitting stores December 11th, and according to the publication, is a must-own.  We’ll get ours for sure.

Meanwhile, two European publications will be headed that way as well, as both Xbox World and PSM3 will cease publication with the final issues coming on December 12th.

Clair Porteous, head of entertainment for Future Publishing, stated, “This decision has been taken as Future continues to focus on its strategy on accelerating digital growth across its international digitally-focused brand business.”

We certainly wish all the writers the best of luck, and hope they land on their feet.
