Report: Game Accessory Maker May Have Revealed the Wii U’s Release Date

Do we have a definitive launch day for Nintendo's Wii U console? Not yet, but we could have a rough idea.

During the Gamestop Manager’s Conference in San Antonio, Texas this week, a company rep for Performance Designed Products — or PDP for short — may have accidentally let the release date of the Nintendo Wii U slip.  They stated that the accessories for the system would launch ahead of the Wii U’s November 18th release.

Following the statement, a PDP rep explained, “We don’t know exactly what was heard, but we simply do not know that this point [sic]. We are launching accessories [for the Wii U], but the date for the accessories doesn’t mean a confirmation on the hardware.”

It was probably accidental, at best, and we won’t know the facts until Nintendo holds its official press conference this September.  But November 18th does sound just about right in terms of catching the Christmas rush.

Speaking of Nintendo, the company will be hosting another Nintendo Direct event tomorrow morning, though it’s likely to focus on upcoming projects for the Wii and 3DS.  We’ll keep you posted on whatever is reported…
