6.2 New Object Spotlight
While all of the new objects in Showtime are listed in the Object Catalog later in this chapter, there are a few cool new items you’ll want to know a little bit more about. Many of these objects have hidden skills associated with them that determine your Sim’s success when performing interactions.
Some objects also build core skills like Logic or Athletic. So browse through the following objects and save up your Simoleons—chances are you’ll want to add some of these to your home.
AmpliFly DJ Booth
Purchase Cost: §2,500
Interaction Cost: None
Fun: 4
Benefits:
- DJ (hidden skill)
Description: When you’re starving for some mouth-watering melodies, this booth is the place to belly up to some beats. Dish yourself up some rich rhythms with a piping hot side of bass. Once you’ve sampled these delectable descants, everything else your ears will taste is ash.
OBJECT NOTES
Get ready to spin some phat jams with this hi-fi DJ booth. Any Sim can hop behind these turntables and start spinning tracks to build the hidden DJ skill. As a Sim’s DJ skill increases, they’ll unlock new music and the Make it Groove interaction, allowing them to perform an improvised mix of the current track.
Your DJ has a chance of failing or succeeding the Make it Groove interaction based on their DJ skill. If they succeed, they get the Made it Groove! positive moodlet—failed interaction lead to the Failed to Groove moodlet. Don’t be surprised if a crowd gathers around the booths as Sims start swaying to the music. But be ready to switch tracks as requests are made.
Playing the requested track in a reasonable amount of time boosts the DJ skill as well as your Sim’s relationship with Sim who made the request. As your DJ skill increases you may receive new opportunities to play gigs at clubs for money. For more information on becoming a DJ, see the Careers section...
