Sonic: Lost World was officially confirmed last week. Earlier this week we showcased a new trailer for the game indicating a Mario Galaxy-like world to explore.  But today, Sega laid out even more details about what to expect from this fast-paced sequel.

Here are first details from the story, courtesy of Sega…

“Dr. Eggman has harnessed the power of six menacing creatures collectively known as the Deadly Six, but when the Deadly Six rise up against their master, Sonic has to unite with his arch nemesis in order to take on the new enemies head-on.  Using his dynamic new parkour moves and improved Color Powers, Sonic must run, jump and race through a variety of ever-changing terrains in order to defeat the Deadly Six.”

Both the Wii U and 3DS versions will have unique aspects when it comes to gameplay.  On the Wii U edition, you’ll be able to control special Color Powers using the touch-screen, via tilting, touching and aiming.  It also supports two players, with one using the GamePad and one for on-TV play.  Other multiplayer modes will be included, and the 3DS version will have its own Special Stages and Color Powers as well.

“We are proud of the strong relationship between Nintendo and Sega and look forward to continuing success with Sonic Lost World on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS,” said Sega of America Chief Content Officer Hiroyuki Miyazaki. “The game marks an evolution of the Sonic series and fans –both old and new — will be excited by a story which sees two of video games biggest adversaries, Sonic and Dr. Eggman, joining forces for the first time to help defeat a new deadly threat.”

Look for Sonic: Lost World later this year.
