Thief Coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3

No longer next-generation exclusive.

One of the highlights at Square Enix’s E3 booth this year was Thief, the long-awaited reboot of the popular franchise from the 90s where players guide a sneak through a variety of missions using every tool in his arsenal to bust through doors and get past guards.  It was previously a next generation exclusive for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.  This morning, things changed.

Square Enix confirmed that Thief will also debut on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.  Eidos Montreal is handling development of the game, and it’s scheduled to arrive around the same time as the other versions in 2014.

Talking with Eidos Montreal community manager Adam Badke, senior producer Stephane Roy stated, “It was really, really important for us – before coming to announce it – to make sure that the core mechanic, the fun factor, we will not touch that.”  Roy continued that all versions will benefit from Thief’s in-depth gameplay, as explained in the clip below.

Look for a first look soon.
