If you've ever owned a Sega Dreamcast, chances are you heard of a nifty little shooter called Under Defeat, which came out in 2006. This helicopter action game features great shmup (shoot-em-up action) and an interesting storyline that takes an alternate path through World War II. Did you miss it? Well, don't kick yourself, because Rising Star Games is giving you a second chance to discover it.
The company has announced that it will be releasing Under Defeat HD this fall on PlayStation 3, as both a retail release and a digital downloadable title. It'll be priced at $39.99.
The game will feature a new high-definition polish, along with a dual-stick analog control scheme that will add a new twist to the gameplay and a game mode dedicated to those with 16:9 displays. But if you buy the physical Deluxe Edition of the game, you'll also score a cool digital art book, a soundtrack, and a letter from the producer of Under Defeat and the CEO of G.rev, the development team handling the game's conversion. A letter of praise, that sort of thing.
"Under Defeat HD: Deluxe Edition is another highly anticipated title that has been regarded as one of the all-time classic games by the shmup community," said Phil Robinson, VP of Rising Star Games Inc. "G.rev has a great reputation within the industry and we're thrilled to be working with them to bring Under Defeat HD to North America."
