Witcher 2 Strategy 05/07/12
There are 3 major skill trees in the Witcher 2 for the player to choose from. To people who are playing for the first time, swordsmanship seems to be the better choice. When playing at a higher difficulty however, going in without any strategy will lead to a swift death.

The first thing to consider is the difficulty. First time around, a player simply needs to unlock whirl and group finishers in the Swordsmanship tree to slice through enemies.
When considering hard mode and dark mode however, more than one tree is almost necessary to overcome large groups and harder enemies.
The first thing to do is save up all the mutagens you have because you will want to get impregnation first. This increases their effect by 35% which is very beneficial combined with greater mutagens and such. Though before you can level up to this mid-way Alchemy skill, you have to level up the training path which can give you some mutagen slots. Parrying, Arrow Redirection, and Fortitude all offer slots. The rest is choice even though Hardiness is not recommended. (50 Vitality is pointless)
From there, you should try and get the skills under Alchemy named Condensation, Metathesis, Mutant, and Amplification. In Swordsmanship the skills that have slots are Invincible, Combat Acumen, and Whirlwind. The other choices are based on what you prefer.
After that, stock up mass greater critical effect mutagens and upgrade your dodge roll. This is a more simple way to ensure you hit hard while being able to avoid damage and rolling has become even more important since the nerf of Quen after the EE patch.
Using this and crowd control (bombs and the Yrden sign) seems to be very effective and highly recommended.
