Lv 1-6 : Hardiness 1, Parrying 1, Arrow Redirection 1, Fortitude 1, Hardiness 2, Vigor Regen 1
Magic: Aard Lv 2 and 3, Quen Lv 2 and 3, Magical Vigor 1, Igni Lv 2, Yrden Lv 2, Magical Life Force 1 and 2, Sense of Magic 1, Control Over the Power 1
Alchemy: Synthesis 1, Potions 1, Harvester 1 and 2
Sword: Riposte 1, Feet Work 1, Violence 1 and 2, Guard 1, Tough Guy 1 and 2, Schemer 1, Hardy 1 and 2, Sudden Death 1, Invincible 1, Combat Acumen 1, Whirlwind 1
Starting with the Lv 1-6 skills, I went towards the more useful route; since in the last game I never used my secondary weapons, I doubt daggers will be helpful, that and the vitality boost of +60 will be most helpful in keeping Geralt alive.
Next to Magic: Aard and Quen are always useful, the former for stunning your opponents to take advantage of them while the latter allows you to take a break to heal during a tough battle. Magical Life Force not only grants +50 Vitality, but also a free +5% to all resistances - not too shabby. Lastly, I only would acquire Sense of Magic for Control Over the Power; with +3 Sign damage AND a base +20% to all resistances, who could NOT take that temptation?
Alchemy really doesn't have a lot of useful skills in my opinion. The free Vitality with Synthesis is alright, and Potions is great since it gives +10% to duration, but all the other skills don't seem quite helpful in-game other than Harvester - Geralt could always use the extra items he's skinned off his enemies to create plenty of potions to gain the upper hand in combat.
Lastly, my favorite section, Swordplay. Honestly, who doesn't love cleaving the flesh of your enemies with a sword? Violence gives Geralt a total of +20% damage to his attack damage, quite useful in making those difficult battles end a bit quicker by allowing him to take down his enemy's health more rapidly; the same applies to the +20% damage reduction from Tough Guy - this skill is invaluable to any player regardless of which tree they choose to focus on; a definitely need-to-have skill. Schemer is also quite useful for any player looking to maximize their game; the added Vigor regeneration will have your witcher casting spells to devestate your foes without having to wait as long for them to recharge. Hardy is simply great - +125 total Vitality? I'll take it! Sudden Death is a unique skill for its insta-kill quality; although it may only be 2%, you never know when it may come in handy. Lastly, like Sense of Magic, Combat Acumen is only purchased to acquire its more superior skill, Whirlwind. With its +10% to all resistances AND +10% critical effects chance, it's another skill any witcher cannot be without.
