The world of Ancient Greece is a sprawling and beautiful place full of wonders and secrets for players to explore and discover. As you explore the early areas of the game, you’re going to come across several places that you can’t access right away. One of these areas, the Cave of the Forgotten Isle in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which can be found just northwest of Megaris where you see the Wolf of Sparta for the first time. In this article we’ll show you how to open up the gate blocking the cave so that you can enter the Cave of the Forgotten Isle in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

Unlock the Gate in the Cave of the Forgotten Isle

In order to unlock the gate blocking the path into the Cave of the Forgotten Isle, players are going to need to advance pretty far into Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. While you can find the Cave of the Forgotten Isle early on—before you even head to Megaris for the first time—you won’t be able to enter it until you reach level 35-40.

The first time you visit the Forgotten Isle and discover the Cave of the Forgotten Isle, you’ll fall through the path, revealing a massive underground cavern with some treasure chests that you can loot. Head through it and underneath the rubble to find a gate that is “not of this world”. From here you’ll need to level up and progress further before you can access the area behind this gate.

Once you reach around level 35-40, you’ll be able to make your way to the southern area of Greece where you’ll be able to find another island, Kythera Island. Here you can find various side quests, more cultists, and even puzzles and other secrets.

This is also where you’ll kick off a questline that begins with the quest ‘A God Among Men’. This quest tasks players with freeing a man who claims to be a god from an enemy stronghold nearby. Head inside and free the man, known as Empedokles, and this will grant you access to even more side quests. Continue down this questline until you’re tasked with traveling to the Cave of the Forgotten Isle.
