As you set sail to explore the Greek isles in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, you’ll find plenty of gorgeous backdrops and landscapes that are worthy of a quick photoshoot. Luckily, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey comes equipped with Photo Mode, a built-in screenshot system that allows players to not only capture screenshots during the game, but also edit their photos with custom filters for a bit of artistic flair. We’ll explain how to use photo mode in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey so that you can capture screenshots of your journey and share your photo creations with other players.

How to Access Photo Mode

Photo Mode is a gameplay feature in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, which means you can only snap photos when you are playing the game itself, as opposed to when you are at the menu screen. To use Photo Mode, start by opening the game and finding a good place to take a photo.

To take a photo using Photo Mode, you must simultaneously press both the left and right analog sticks (L3+R3) while in the game. This will open the game’s Photo Mode, where you will be able to adjust and edit your screenshot using built-in tools and save your image when finished.

If for some reason you can’t open Photo Mode, you may need to check your game options to ensure that Photo Mode is enabled. To do this, start by opening the Options menu and selecting the Gameplay tab. Make sure the Photo Mode option is toggled on so that you can start taking photos in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

How to Edit in Photo Mode

Activating Photo Mode causes the gameplay to freeze and will bring you into Composition Mode, where you are able to pan around the scene using the analog sticks to get the perfect angle for your photo. To zoom in and out of the image, simply press LT and RT (Xbox One) or L2 and R2 (PS4). Press the right analog stick to reset and undo the changes you’ve made.

On top of the basic screenshot controls, Photo Mode also has a special editing feature that allows you to tweak your photo using more advanced picture settings. To access the editing features while in Photo Mode, simply press the left analog stick (L3). This will bring up a list of additional editing options for your photo, which you can scroll through using the D-Pad on your controller. Here, you can use the right analog stick (R3) to adjust various attributes of your photo, such as its exposure, saturation, or depth of field.

When you’re done editing and are ready to save your photo, return to Composition Mode and press A on Xbox One or X on PS4 to save the photo to your image gallery on your console. If you are connected to the internet while playing the game, you can also view photos shared by other players on the in-game map, where your photos will be featured as well.

Now that you know how to use Photo Mode in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, you should be ready to dive into the game and start snapping some memorable photos of your journey. For more gameplay tips and tutorials, visit our Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Guide.
