Like any RPG, players making their way through Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s massive world will find themselves coming across various pieces of gear and weapons to help out with their battle. Along the way you’ll find more powerful gear, but sometimes the gear you have will offer different perks and stats which you’ll want to keep. That’s where upgrading your gear comes into play and today we’ll show you everything you need to know to learn how to upgrade your gear in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
How to Upgrade Gear
Every piece of gear in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has a level and value to it, and while you’ll find some variations of gear throughout your time in the game, you’re eventually going to start finding rarer items that you’ll want to hold onto despite the fact that more common items offer more power. If you do come across these items, then you’ll probably find yourself looking to upgrade them at some point.
Upgrading gear is useful because it allows you to hold onto rarer items while also upgrading their power and the way that they affect your character’s stats. See, every item that you equip in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will change your overall HP, Armor, Hunter Damage, Warrior Damage and Assassin Damage. Because of this, it’s important to upgrade your gear to make sure you aren’t losing access to special perks and abilities granted by different gear.
In order to upgrade your gear in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, you’re going to want to open up your map and keep an eye out for a Blacksmith, notated by an Anvil icon on the world map. Head to one of these locations and you will be able to select the “Upgrade” option in the menu. Here you’ll be able to see all of the current weapons and armor that you can upgrade from your inventory.
In order to upgrade an item, you’re also going to need to gather specific resources. You can see what these resources are, as well as how many you’ll need from the inventory screen. Once you have the resources, head to a Blacksmith and have the work completed. This will bring the weapons current power up to your level, evening out the abilities and additions that it makes to your different stats.
Because of the way that upgrades work in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, we’d suggest waiting several levels before you upgrade an item. You can use other items and gear you find during this time, then return to upgrade your gear to your current level later down the line—especially early in the game. You aren’t going to want to have to spend a lot of time farming materials, so make your upgrades count, as each one will cost more and more to complete.
