Batman: Arkham Series Making Handheld Debut This October With Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate

The separate release will tie in with Warner Bros.' console adventure.

October’s going to be a big month for the Dark Knight.  Not only are we getting a new console release with Batman: Arkham Origins, but WB Games has also announced a separate game for handheld devices.

The game is called Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, and in it, players will be able to experience a 2.5-D Metroidvania style game, where Batman uses his utilities and prowess to explore the reaches to Gotham City while battling enemies of all sorts.

Arkham Origins Blackgate is being developed by Armature Studio, who has worked previously on Metal Gear Solid HD Collection alongside Kojima Productions and the Metroid Prime series, back when they were with Retro Studios.  So the franchise is in good hands.

The game is scheduled to release on both Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita on the same day as Origins, October 25th.  We’ll get a closer look at it in the months ahead and provide a full preview soon.
