Beyond Good and Evil 2 Still In Development, According To Ubisoft

The company might also have interest in some of THQ's assets.

Ubisoft’s still making a pretty big impact in the holiday market these days, with several games coming for the Wii U on Sunday, as well as Assassin’s Creed III and Far Cry 3 for other systems.  But it’s still thinking about the future, and one title in particular that came up was the previously announced Beyond Good and Evil 2.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot talked with Polygon about the project, but explained that the series creator, Michel Ancel (the man behind Rayman) is busy with other stuff as well.  “What’s very important is that Michel Ancel is kind of doing too many things at the same time,” said Guillemot.  “He was working on Rayman Origins last year, and he’s working a lot on Rayman Legends this year.  So, you know, when he does that, he kind of puts too much of his time on the other projects that he has.

“So the fact is, that working on Legends is slowing the process on Beyond Good and Evil 2.”

In other news, Guillemot has expressed interest in looking at particular assets from THQ, who are struggling with falling stock prices and recent game delays.  Nothing is official as of yet, but you never know – this just might be a partnership in the making.  We’ll have more information as we get it.
