Girl Scouts Will Soon Have Access To a Video Game Badge

The team is working with Women in Games International on an awesome new badge.

Finishing video games is becoming quite a big accomplishment these days, especially when it’s something along the lines of BioShock Infinite’s 1999 mode.  Now there’s another physical reward coming for it, straight from the Girl Scouts themselves.

The Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles have teamed up with the Women In Games International to encourage scouts across America about video game development with a new patch.  The Boy Scouts previously got a badge evoking the same honor, so now the girls get a turn.

“Our ultimate goal is to create a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) aligned video game badge for the Girl Scouts of the United States of America,” said Amy Allison, vice president at WIGI.  “Creating this badge will get young girls excited in technology and science and let them know that they, too, can have a badge in the video game industry.”

“Girl Scouts has a long history of developing pioneers in the fields of science and technology, so we are excited about collaborating with Women In Games International to ignite girls’ interests in STEM-related subjects,” said GSGLA Chief Executive Officer Lise Luttgens.

Congrats to both parties!  We’ve included an image of the Girl Scouts badge below.
