Epic says “We’re still a PC company”

Don’t believe the snipe

Vice president of Epic Games Mark Rein has defied fans’ accusations that they’ve abandoned the PC.

“I mean, Bulletstorm is coming out on three platforms; we’ve just been in this situation where our biggest franchise has been published by a console-holder, and was a very console designed-IP.”

Bulletstorm is being developed by Epic Games owned studio People Can Fly, it’s down to be published by Electronic Arts and should be out in 2011.

“Don’t confuse Gears of War with everything we do,” added Rein.

“There’s a tendency to think that because we wanna do one thing really, really well and not a hundred things really poorly or just okay that we’re less committed.”

Rein also revealed this week, at GameHorizon, that they’re thinking about mobile platforms as well, saying that they’re “the consoles of the future”.

Bulletstorm though, will be released in a more traditional manner, and is coming to PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

“Honestly I think Bulletstorm and [Unreal Development Kit] are firmly establishing us in the PC realm as still the big player there,” said Rein.
