Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Sequel Delayed On 3DS, But Coming To PC

It's a good news/bad news situation for fans of Konami's Castlevania series, as it looks like you won't be getting a taste of a new chapter for the 2012 gaming season. 2013, however, is looking like a beast.

Konami has announced that it’s going to release the highly anticipated sequel Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 in 2013. Though a firm date hasn’t been given, the game has been confirmed for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and, for the first time, PC.

“Castlevania: Lords of Shadow successfully rebooted the franchise but now we want to go further and exceed people’s expectations on what to expect from the sequel,” commented Dave Cox, Producer of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 and Head of Product Planning and Development for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. “This new game tells a much broader tale and one that spans centuries. It is a game that pushes whatever format it is on to the absolute limit, and we are delighted that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2’s rich blend of first-class fighting, deep exploration and rich storytelling are set to delight and enthrall PC users, too. There’s a darkness coming and with our new game engine, we hope to deliver something truly special across multiple formats that will set new standards for action adventure games …”

But with the good news, like I said, comes the bad. The 3DS chapter of the series, Castlevania Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate has been bumped back to an early 2013 release, possibly to be timed alongside Lords of Shadow 2. Konami and MercurySteam apparently need a little more time getting it polished.

But don’t worry, we’ll have coverage on both of these games soon, especially Mirror of Fate, which we’ll get to see at PAX in a couple of weeks!
