Find out if and when you can expect Cuphead to hit other platforms.

With Cuphead releasing on Xbox One and Windows tomorrow morning, many people have been wondering if Cuphead will come to the PlayStation 4. You don’t have to wonder anymore because this article answers the question of will Cuphead come to PS4 and even offers a bit of insight into the situation. So let’s take a quick look at who owns the rights to the game and if Cuphead will come to PS4 or any other unannounced platforms.

At the moment, Cuphead is exclusive to the Xbox One and PC. The developer has stated that a Mac and possibly even a Linux version could be released down the road, but this first Cuphead title will not release on the PlayStation 4 or Nintendo Switch. However, that doesn’t mean Cuphead PS4 is completely out of the question. You can check out a quote from the development team for more details.

“…this Cuphead game is exclusive to Xbox and PC,” the development team initially stated. “There will likely be a Mac version down the road and possibly a Linux version beyond that (unless we lose our houses or whatever).”

All that said, Studio MDHR, the developer behind Cuphead, owns the rights to Cuphead. This isn’t a Microsoft property despite the release agreements in place for the first game. That means any future Cuphead titles are not locked to Xbox and Windows platforms. There’s been no announcement of a Cuphead sequel, and fans probably shouldn’t expect one anytime soon with the game releasing tomorrow, but it’s not out of the question for a new Cuphead game to reach other platforms at some point in the future.
