Cyberpunk 2077 Has Over 400 Devs Working On It

That's a big team to make sure CD Projekt RED's newest IP is done right!

Cyberpunk 2077 has captured the hearts of RPG fans ever since CD Projekt RED first teased it. Since then, we’ve gotten a whopping 45 hours of gameplay to drool over, marveling over the stunningly realistic open-world and all of the many decisions it hides within it. That being said, this game is no easy feat and needs a massive team to ensure it’s quality. Apparently, 400 is a good number!

“The CD Projekt Red studio carried on with intensive development of Cyberpunk 2077, with more than 400 people currently involved in the project,” said the studio during a recent first quarter debrief. Impressive, but not unexpected. Cyberpunk 2077 is all about player choice, meaning a very flexible infrastructure is imperative to make sure player choice isn’t lost due to unforseen events, a restrictive narrative, or even by broken immersive due to poor quality.

Also for perspective, their huge RPG hit, The Witcher 3, had about 240 developers on-hand, so when RED said they were going big for their new IP – they weren’t kidding.

We don’t have a release date yet for the upcoming title, though a release window is expected during their confirmed presentation at E3Though we don’t have an official release date at this time outside of leaks, we do at least know a little more about the game and its main character:

“Cyberpunk 2077 is a narrative-driven, open world RPG set in the most vibrant and dangerous metropolis of the future — Night City. You play as V, a hired gun on the rise, who just got their first serious contract. In a world of cyberenhanced street warriors, tech-savvy netrunners and corporate life-hackers, today is your first step to becoming an urban legend.”
