There are two NPCs that let you trade in boss souls to obtain weapon variants. The first NPC is Straid, who is located at the top of The Lost Bastille, just above the bridge that leads to the Sinner’s Rise. Straid is petrified at the entrance to a cell on the top floor. You need a Fragrant Branch of Yore to reverse the petrification. Once he is free, light the bonfire behind him and you can travel directly to him from any bonfire.

Once you free Ornifex, speak with her until talking options are exhausted, then she moves to her new location in Brightstone Cove Tseldora. Travel to the Lower Brightstone Cove bonfire, then head left. She is behind the door.
