Welcome one and all to this week’s Ascendant Challenge. These are the weekly activities which can be found in the Dreaming City. Finishing them off lets you complete bounties, kill baddies, and get some great loot. Pretty much everything you want from Destiny 2 really. The thing is, finding them is tricky, but even gaining access to them requires a special item. So, before we detail the challenge itself, how about we talk about where it is, and how to gain access?
How To Start The Challenge
So, first things first, you need to get a Tincture of Queensfoil.
This is the item you need to actually get into the challenges proper. You can get one from a drop from anywhere in The Dreaming City. So, you need to be doing Public Events, opening chests, completing Bounties, and doing Patrol Activites. It’s an uncommon drop, but if you play enough you are sure to get ahold of one. Alternatively, you can buy one for Huginn in the Harbinger’s Seclude for 50 Baryon Boughs. The choice is yours.
Once you’ve got this the next thing to do is get the Weekly Bounty from Petra. This is the bit which means you’ll get some great loot at the end of the challenge. Keep in mind that if you die during these challenges you’ll have to start again. So, try not to?
The Challenge
“Starlight, star bright, first untruth she’ll craft tonight…”
This is the clue you’ll have for this week. It isn’t an emo teenagers love poem.
So, go to the Chamber of Starlight Lost Sector in Rheasilvia. This is to the north of The Dreaming City. Use the Tincture of Queensfoil and then find the portal towards the end of the first area. It should be near some snipers so keep an eye out. I mean, the portal should also stand out, but hey, help is help.
The challenge has you making your way through the are before taking out an Ascendant Knight.
Going through the portal will land you in the Cimmerian Garrison. While you can fight off the enemies on the path, it is much easier to just run through. Make sure to choose an agile build in order to be able to do this though. The path itself is fairly straight forward, you just need to beware of the enemies on the way. If you don’t fancy yourself light on your feet then just take your time fighting your way through.
Just before the boss is a platforming section, so be careful here too. Shriekers can spawn above the boss arena at the end of it so be sure to take of those ASAP.
Once you reach the end of the path you will have to fight the Ascendant Knight. This is a tough fight so use a lot of cover and aim for the head. Once the boss falls you have completed the challenge.
