If you plan on playing Destiny 2 with your mouse and keyboard, then you’ll need to get used to a few things. While the keys are remappable, the default setup is a bit different than other shooters on the PC, and it may take a little getting used to if you want to sort things out correctly. We’ve broken down the controls below, so take a look to get an idea of where you should start.

Destiny 2 PC Controls

Like most PC games, Destiny 2 does revolve around the basic WASD movement system, and players can expect to see that used quite frequently throughout their time in the game. Here’s all the common controls below, which buttons control your emotes, how to move, and even how to talk in the game. As you can see, some of the default controls are a bit different than what we’ve seen in other shooters, so players should feel free to remap them as you see fit.

From there we move on to the Character controls, which includes the button configurations for how to fire, reload, zoom, and even melee with your character. You’ll also find info on how to sprint, how to crouch, and even how to use your class ability in this section. The image we’ve provided below also includes the start of the Vehicle controls, which we’ll discuss in the next section.

Like the first Destiny game, there are several different vehicles that players can make use of in Destiny 2. Using these vehicles works pretty similarly to how you use your character, so it shouldn’t be too hard to get the hang of these controls while playing the game. Make note of how to boost, brake, and zoom in with your vehicle’s weapon—assuming it has any kind of weapon mounted to it.

Finally we have the UI Shortcuts, which will show you how to activate the game’s built-in text chat system, how to deploy your Ghost and use your Director, and even how to open your character menu. There are also areas that you can use to set up how to open your Clans and Inventory screens, those these aren’t extremely important, so players should feel free to set them up however they feel for faster navigation.

Knowing the controls is a vital part of being successful in Destiny 2, and you should now have a very firm grasp of what the PC controls look like for Destiny 2.
