Bungie Explains Refer-a-Friend Program in Destiny

Convince people to play Destiny and receive cool rewards!

If you play Destiny and want to take advantage of inexperienced newcomers (or rather, take them under your wing), the new Refer-a-Friend program is ideal.

Bungie explained the new program in a recent blog post. Fans can earn exclusive rewards by inviting new players into the game. It breaks down into two groups, Veterans and Referees. The Veterans are the ones who have logged many hours and levels in Destiny: The Taken King with update 2.0.2 installed. Meanwhile, Referees are considered the newcomers to the game. Note: the program is currently exclusive to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game.

Veteran players can set up a referral link, which Referees can verify once they pick up The Taken King and begin playing. It’s simply a matter of registering with their Bungie.net account and creating referral links, then putting their request in play and seeing it move from “Pending Referrals” to active. From there, the quest, A Tale of Two Guardians will open up, which can be started by visiting the Speaker in the Tower.

In addition, various rewards are available for unlocking as the Referees continue to play, including three new Legendary swords.

Sounds like a good way to get players involved with the game, if they’re not yet already.
