Destiny: Rise of Iron is almost upon us, which means we’re still rounding up all the weapons that you need to get before we head into the newest expansion, and Destiny’s third year. Today we want to cover the Fabian Strategy, one of three class-specific weapons that released with Destiny: The Taken King last September. This was a momentous occasion for Destiny’s Gunsmith, as it finally made him useful for something other than just being a basic vendor. This guide will walk you through all the steps to get the Fabian Strategy, and Exotic Assault Rifle that can only be obtained and used by Titans.

The first thing we want to do is take a look at what makes this assault rifle so special. Sure, it’s an Exotic and all, but the perks themselves aren’t half bad. The biggest perk, Front Lines, is all about better handling, stability, and rate of fire when enemies are close to you. The weapon also as Crowd Control, a perk that grans bonus damage for a short time whenever you score a skill. The final perk to take notice of on this weapon, Life Support, grans a chance to start regenerating health whenever you get a kill while critically wounded. Individually these perks don’t account for much, however, when they are combined together into one weapon, they allow you to become a killing machine in Destiny’s PVE activities.

Now that you know why the gun is special, it’s time to take a look at exactly how you get your hands on it. The first step is to reach Rank 2 with your Gunsmith. This will unlock a questline that when completed will continue at Gunsmith Rank 3. Once you reach Rank 3, and have completed the tasks given to you at Rank 2, you will receive an update to the Back in the Saddle quest. This will task you will getting 100 kills using any Assault Rifle while having a Primary Weapons Telemetry active. Break out your Telemetry and head into your favorite event to get the kills.

Once you have gathered the 100 kills, speak to the Gunsmith once more to continue the quest. You will now be tasked with an objective to dismantle weapons to gather Weapon Parts, which the Gunsmith will need to craft the weapon. It should be noted here that the Gunsmith only needs 10 Weapon Parts, and that only Rare and Legendary weapons can be dismantled to get these Weapon Parts. No other dismantled weapons will count!

Dismantling a Rare Auto Rifle will gran you 2 Weapon Parts, whereas dismantling a Legendary Auto Rifle will reward you with 5 Weapon Parts. We suggest breaking out some of your old Year 1 Legendaries in order to knock this task out quickly. Once you have all the Weapon Parts that you need, head back to The Tower and speak to the Gunsmith once more. At this point the Gunsmith will reward you with the Fabian Strategy Exotic Auto Rifle, and you will have completed the Back in the Saddle questline. Now you can head out into the world and enjoy your new Exotic Assault Rifle.

With just a few short days left before Destiny’s newest expansion, Rise of Iron, hits, you’ll want to go ahead and complete this questline and get your Gunsmith ranked up. The Fabian Strategy might not be the best Exotic Assault Rifle out there, but it is a welcome addition to any arsenal as its three primary perks are an exceptional combination. Remember that this Exotic Assault Rifle can only be used with a Titan class Guardian, so you won’t even be able to equip it or transfer it to any Warlock or Hunter class Guardians that you have.

Destiny: Rise of Iron will release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 20, so be sure to stay tuned to the site as we will be covering the new expansion pack very extensively in the coming days.
