Destiny: Moments of Triumph Year 2 Walkthrough and Guide

Learn how to complete Moments of Triumph for year 2 in Destiny.

This guide features a walkthrough of Destiny: Moments of Triumph to help you get through the new content. Last year Destiny challenged players to complete a set of tasks which they deemed were the Moments of Triumph for that year. This year the tasks are back, and they’re going to be a bit more involved than they were last year.

Not only will you need to complete a few lengthy quests, but you’ll also have to complete some challenges without The Taken King’s raid, which revolve each weekly reset. Completing the Moments of Triumph for Year 2 will reward players with the CaelestisShader, the DawncallerShader, as well as the Hear the Call and Shield of the Traveler emblems. In order to receive these rewards, you will need to complete the year 2 Moments of Triumph before Rise of Iron releases on September 20.

Here is the full list of challenges to complete:

A Blade Reborn

  • Complete any of the Exotic sword quests from Shaxx.

The Sword Logic

  • Defeat Oryx in the King’s Fall Raid on Hard difficulty.

The Play’s the Thing

  • Complete the Taken King main questline, culminating in “Regicide”.

This is Amazing

  • Complete the Crucible questline culminating in “The Mountaintop”.

Eris Morn’s Revenge

  • Collect all 50 Calcified Fragments.

Return to the Reef

  • Complete the April quests “At the Gates” and “Return to the Prison”.

Challenge of the Elders

  • Complete any Elder’s Sigil scorecard in the Prison of Elders.

The Third Element

  • Equip a fully leveled Year Two subclass on any character.

A Blade Reborn

To complete this specific task you’re going to need to acquire an Exotic Sword. To do this you must first complete the Taken King main questline, then head to the Tower and report to Lord Shaxx. This will begin the quest “A Broken Will”. Once you have completed “A Broken Will”, you’ll be rewarded with one of three Legendary Swords. Infuse the sword above 280 Light to receive the quest “A Sword Reforged” from Lord Shaxx. This quest will require you to complete various steps, including but not limited to, getting kills in the Crucible with the sword, killing a special Hive enemy, and gathering rare materials from a Patrol node on one of the planets. After you’ve completed all the preliminary steps, you’ll be tasked with killing a special named Hive enemy in the Sunless Cell Strike.

The Sword Logic

This task is a bit harder than the rest, as it will truly test yours and your team’s skills and strength. Each section of this raid is different from its Normal Mode variation, and dying in the Hard Mode version of the raid is permanent. This means you and your Fireteam will need to be patient and play to each individual’s strengths to make it through this nightmare, and finally bring Oryx to his knees.

Return to the Reef

If you want to complete this task, you’re going to have to dive into a little more of Destiny’s fabled story. Back in April, a new Strike and questline were added to the game, alongside some major improvements to the Prison of Elders, which was originally introduced with the Taken King. To finish this task, you’ll want to play through the quest “At the Gates”, and complete the new Blighted Chalice Strike. Once you’ve done that, make your way back to the Reef and talk with Variks to receive a new quest to take on the all new Level 41 Prison of Elders, as well as the newest PoE activity, Challenge of the Elders.

The Play’s the Thing

To complete this task, you’ll have to complete the Taken King main storyline, which ends with the mission, ‘Regicide’. Once you’ve defeated Oryx, this task will complete and you can claim your reward. If by chance you haven’t completed this questline, just hop into The Director, select the planet Mars, and then choose the mission “The Coming War” to hop in. It shouldn’t take you very long to complete.

Eris Morn’s Revenge

Completing this task will take a little work, as all 50- of these Calcified Fragments you need to collect are well hidden throughout the Taken King content. Luckily all the items are located in one handy place, the Dreadnaught. This will make finding them a bit less stressful, however, it’s still going to take you a little bit to grab them all. We’ve already covered the locations of all 50 Calcified Fragments in an earlier guide. So be sure to check it out to see which fragments you’re missing.

Challenge of the Elders

Make your way to the Reef and talk with Variks to purchase a Challenge of the Elders scorecard. Then you’ll need to head into the Prison of Elders and complete the scorecard to not only win a reward, but also to knock this task off your bucket list.

This is Amazing

This task might take you a while to complete. Not only is it made up of various steps, but it also is a Crucible oriented questline, meaning everything you do to accomplish these steps will require you to play PVP in Destiny. This won’t be a huge problem if you enjoy the PVP aspect of the game, but it might be a bit of a chore for those who usually stick to PVE activities. To complete this quest, you’ll need to tackle ta long list of challenges which you will receive from Lord Shaxx.

The Third Element

Destiny originally only featured two subclasses for each Guardian type. With the Taken King, an additional subclass was added to each Guardian. To complete this task, you’ll need to level one of the three new subclasses all the way up. Warlocks will need to level up Stormcaller, Titans should focus on Sunbreaker, and Hunters will want to put all their time into Nightstalker. Once you fully level the subclass up, this task will complete and you’ll be rewarded for your troubles.

The Mighty Treasure

Unlike last year, when the Moments of Triumph required you to complete all the tasks listed, Bungie has decided to give players more options. Instead of one tier, the Moments of Triumph rewards are broken down into five different tiers. The first tier gives you nothing, and is what you start out at. However, the rest of the ranks are as follows:

  • Rank 2 – rewarded with CaelestisShader
  • Rank 3 – rewarded with Shield of the Traveler Emblem
  • Rank 4 – rewarded with DawncallerShader
  • Rank 5 – rewared with Hear the Call Emblem.

Once you’ve completed your tasks, be sure to redeem your rewards in game before Rise of Iron releases on September 20.
