Less than one month to go before Pokemon fans can see Detective Pikachu for themselves in theaters featuring a coffee-addicted Pikachu and some seriously hyper-realistic pocket monsters. The latest trailer for the upcoming film offers fans an inside look at a world filed with Pokemon with a much more dramatic tone than previous videos seen on Ryan Reynolds’ (Pikachu) YouTube channel.

The latest video shows off a variety of pocket monsters in a world just itching to be explored. The trailer does take an ironically melodramatic turn, which is a definite change from the usual comedic bits. The video was also set to Louis Armstrong’s ‘What a Wonderful World’ song, which of course inspires some waterworks.

The upcoming film stars Ryan Reynolds as Detective Pikachu, alongside Suki Waterhouse, Kathryn Newton, Justice Smith, and many others underneath director Rob Letterman.

As for the movie itself, Detective Pikachu is slated for a theater release on May 10, 2019. For more about the film:

“The story begins when ace detective Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry’s former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to communicate with one another, Tim and Pikachu join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City–a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokémon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world–they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe.”
