Now that Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes is finally available, comic book fans and gamers of all ages can enjoy the many features it has to offer, between different play sets based on popular franchises and a variety of characters to choose from, ranging from Groot and Rocket Raccoon to Venom and The Incredible Hulk.
Along with the pre-set missions, Toy Box 2.0 makes its debut, providing bigger worlds and more tools to play with, as well as various opportunities to share your creations with others and try mini-games designed by other members of the community.
On that note, here are some tips that’ll help you get accustomed to the Toy Box.
Import, import, import
If you played last year’s Disney Infinity, the things you earned carry over into Disney Infinity 2.0 with little effort, so you can pick up right where you left off.
Other items from the previous game aren’t compatible – like certain play sets, which were mainly built for the first release – but importing will allow you to continue your Toy Box success without missing a beat.
Just look for the option when you start the game, and it should only take a bit of time for all your items to carry over.
Look for items in the campaign
Of course, the bulk of items that you unlock in the Toy Box realm will come from the pre-set missions in each play set, whether it’s the Avengers set included with the game or the supplementary Guardians of the Galaxy or Spider-Man worlds. The key here is exploration, and keeping an eye open for little toy containers, colored red, that contain various items that unlock for Toy Box.
Don’t forget that you’ll earn XP throughout the game, which you can turn around to buy certain items in Toy Box if you don’t feel like finding them by chance. Stop by the shop and see what’s available, and save up for the items you need the most. Don’t worry about making a bad purchase either – even the smallest items can go a long way when it comes to building stuff.
Get a helping hand
Along with being able to build stuff on your own with the intuitive building kits included within Toy Box, Disney Infinity 2.0 also gifts you with occasional helpers that lend a hand when it comes to putting together your ideal world. You’ll run across these guys by chance, and even recognize a few from certain Disney franchises, such as the King of Agrabah from Disney’s Aladdin, among others.
Setting them out to do their tasks will result in the quick building of a small structure. While they aren’t the handiest when it comes to larger buildings, they will help you establish a larger space much quicker than you could on your own. Call upon them whenever you get the chance, and see what they can do for you.
The Mini-Game Discs
Power-up discs once again make a return with Disney Infinity 2.0, allowing players to modify their chosen characters with a special ability. However, as you collect these, you’ll also come across little mini-game discs that open up automatically created activities for you to try out, such as a race with Thor or some other competitive event, which you can play locally with a friend.
These are worth tracking down, mainly because the content is already built for you, and may even inspire you to create a better race down the road, with more complicated turns, obstacles and more. When you get your hands on these (two come in the initial Disney Infinity 2.0 Starter Kit), don’t be afraid to try them out. They might just prompt you to create an even bigger and better set.
Share and share alike
Definitely take advantage of the Share option included within Disney Infinity 2.0. Like the last game, you can share your online level designs with others, and download new ones to see how they fare.
Disney did a good job with the community surrounding these creations, and even managed to release official DLC packs featuring some of the best levels. Although your creation isn’t quite guaranteed to make the top five in these packs, it’s still worth a shot – and you can still get feedback from the community on what kind of changes need to be made to improve your design.
