Disney Infinity Announced

Get ready to interact in the Disney universe, like never before.

Seeing as how Activision really cleaned up with Skylanders sales (over $500 million and counting), Disney has seen how successful this formula can be with their own universe, and yesterday, in a press conference in Los Angeles, they followed suit with their own interactive game set-up, Disney Infinity.

Coming to various consoles (and mobile) this June, Disney Infinity will take various universes and characters from its legacy, including Monsters Inc., Pirates of the Caribbean and The incredibles, and allow users to place figures on a stand and interact with them in two ways – both in pre-planned missions and a “Toy Box” mode, where they can build their own little utopia within that world.  (It’s a similar set-up to what Toy Story 3 offered back in 2010 – a game made by Infinity’s developer, Avalanche Games.)

Pricing is set as follows: the game pack, which includes three play sets and figures, will go for $74.99, and additional play sets will be sold for $34.99.  Extra power disc bundles and figurines are likely to sell for $4.99 apiece.

The game will release for Xbox 360, Wii U, Wii, PlayStation 3, Nintendo 3DS and mobile platforms this June.  We’ll have a preview shortly.
