The Dissidia Final Fantasy NT beta is finally here, but a lot of people are going into the beta with very little knowledge of what to expect. This article covers a few important Dissidia tips so that you know what’s going on and have a better understanding of how the game mechanics work. We’ll be doing more than just Dissidia Final Fantasy tips over the coming weeks and months before the game officially arrives on store shelves, but for now you can check out these Dissidia Final Fantasy tips to you get a better grasp on the game during the beta.

Bravery Attacks - Building Damage

There are two types of attacks in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, the Bravery Attack and the HP Attack. Bravery Attacks are performed by pressing the X button and moving the Left Analog Stick in a direction. Each character has a variety of Bravery Attacks, so make sure you familiarize yourself with them so you know which attacks to use and when to use them.

Keep a close eye your Bravery Gauge, which is the large number near the bottom of the screen, just above the blue bar. The number represented here determines how much damage you inflict when you perform an HP Attack. This number defaults to 1,000, but can rise or fall throughout the match and will reset to zero every time you land an HP Attack. The number inside of the blue bar is your character’s health gauge. It goes down every time your character is hit by an HP Attack.

When you connect with a Bravery Attack, the number in your Bravery Gauge will increase, while the opponent’s will decrease. This doesn’t actually cause any damage, it just lowers the amount of damage your opponent will do if they connect with an HP Attack. Likewise, if you’re hit by an opponent’s Bravery Attack, this number will lower and your HP Attacks will inflict less damage.

Ideally, you want to hit your opponent with Bravery Attacks until your Bravery Gauge is high. Once your Bravery Gauge is high enough that a single HP Attack will KO an opponent, the gauge will glow purple. This should be the sign that lets you know it’s time to switch to HP Attacks and finish off one of the opposing team's characters.

HP Attacks - KO Your Opponent

To perform an HP Attack, simply press the Square button. Like Bravery Attacks, each character has multiple HP Attacks they can use. The amount of damage inflicted by an HP Attack is determined by the Bravery Gauge, which is the large number near the bottom of the screen. If this number is glowing purple, your next HP Attack will KO the opponent’s character. However, you don’t have to wait for it to glow purple to use an HP Attack. Just know that it won’t KO the opponent, and instead just deplete their health gauge.

While characters have multiple HP Attacks, you can only select one of them before the match. Since you won't be able to look at your opponent’s characters to help determine which HP Attack you want to use during each match, it's important to know the differences in you character's HP Attacks and which fits your play style the best. Keep in mind, once you connect with an HP Attack, your Bravery Gauge drops down to zero and will take time to increase again. This is the main reason why many players wait until the gauge is glowing purple so they know a single HP Attack will finish off an opponent.

How to Win

To win matches you need to incapacitate (KO) characters on the opposing team three times. The two bars in the upper left corner of the screen segmented into three sections represent the three KOs. Your team's bar is the blue bar, while the opposing team is the red bar. Every time a character is KO'd (using HP Attacks) one segment of that team's bar will be removed. When a team has no more segments remaining they lose the match.

Blocking and Dodging

Blocking is performed by holding R1 while stationary. If you press R1 while moving, your character will dash instead of block. There's a limit to how much you can block, and dashing does leave you unable to block and vulnerable to an attack for a short time. Because of this you can't endlessly dash or block, so keep this in mind.

Targeting

The curved lines indicate who's targeting you, while a blue circle indicates which opponent you're targeting. A blue line means an opponent is simply targeting you, while a red line means they're attacking you. Any time you see a red line you should be ready to block, dash or sidestep because it means an attack is coming.

EX Skills

Each character has an EX Skill (Triangle) that will have a variety of special uses. One of the most common uses is to transfer or share their Bravery Gauge with a teammate. A popular strategy is to use one character to build a lot of Bravery Gauge, then use an EX Skill to transfer that Bravery to a teammate with an easy to hit HP Attack. Look at the various abilities of the characters on your team to determine which Bravery Attacks are easiest to hit with, and which HP Attacks are easy to land. This knowledge can make matches much easier for you.

Break Status

If you completely deplete an opponent’s Bravery Gauge (by continually hitting them with Bravery Attacks), they will enter a Break Status. When this happens you will receive a Break Bonus which you will see at the top of the screen. This is a bonus to your Bravery Gauge that should be used to potentially KO an opponent with an HP Attack.
