DAO decisions affect DA2 game

Import your world

While you can’t bring your character from Dragon Age: Origins into Dragon Age II, importing your save game will change the world in which your character exists.

Much like Mass Effect 2, outcomes of many of the major events in Dragon Age: Origins will make differences to the storyline of the game.

“We look at it as importing the world really,” Mike Laidlaw, BioWare’s lead game designer told NowGamer.

“I’ve always seen Dragon Age as a franchise as about more than any one character. It’s about entire an entire span of history and the whole world that’s affected by what happens. So that was our approach, and the importing stays true to that in the sense that the decisions your Warden made and the person they were all affects Dragon Age II.

“You know,” he said, “who’s in charge of Ferelden, what happened with the Dwarves, who’s running Orzammar? All of these things are reflected and accounted for in Dragon Age II.”

BioWare have decided to give you a pre-made hero as your playable character, which’ll allow the writers to have a lot more control over what they do with the story. Despite this, developers still insist there’s to be a lot of freedom within that.

The devs also revealed that there’ll be a lot less radial-menuing throughout the game, which should help with all the stop-starting in the first release. A lot of skills won’t be mapped, which should make things a lot more fluid. The controls are set to become much freer and less restrictive along with the movemens and actions of characters, who’ll be slicing and dicing with much more grace than the first.

Dragon Age II is set for release on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in March, if you visit the game hub right here you’ll find a whole host of stuff.
