Electronic Arts took a step into the future today as the company revealed a new way for gamers to play EA games. EA has partnered with Microsoft to deliver the EA Access initiative. EA Access is a monthly (or annual) membership available exclusively on the Xbox One. The Netflix-like service offers access to The Vault, a collection of EA’s biggest hits on Xbox One.

The service ,which will run $4.99 monthly, or $29.99 annually, is being rolled out in beta to a limited number of players today. It will launch for all Xbox One owners in the near future. During the beta, gamers will have unlimited access to FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25, Peggle 2 and Battlefield 4, with more titles added soon.

In addition EA Access membership allows the following perks:

  • Save 10 percent on purchases of EA digital content for Xbox One offered through the Xbox Games Store. This includes full digital-download titles such as Dragon Age: Inquisition and NHL15, as well as membership services like Battlefield 4 Premium or FIFA Ultimate Team points.
  • Membership in EA Access lets players experience trials of new EA games up to five days before the release date. This begins with Madden NFL 15, NHL 15, FIFA 15, NBA LIVE 15, and Dragon Age: Inquisition, with more titles on the way. If you decide to buy the game, your progress will carry over to the purchase.

Soon, gamers will be able to purchase EA Access membership at local GameStop retail stores. GameStop and Amazon will also carry EA Access memberships for Xbox One gamers across Europe, as well as EB Games in Canada.
