Dragon Ball FighterZ – Open Beta Early Access Requirements

Find out how to get early access to the Dragon Ball FighterZ open beta!

Earlier this week Bandai Namco announced that digital pre-orders went live for Dragon Ball FighterZ. Alongside this announcement we learned about some of the pre-order bundles, as well as the FighterZ Pass and eight DLC characters that will be coming post-launch. However, in the midst of all this news there was some confusion regarding early access to the open beta, coming in January. The open beta runs January 14-15, but with early access you start the open beta on January 13. Read on to find out exactly how to get early access to the Dragon Ball FighterZ open beta.

Open Beta Early Access

Back in August the trailers out of Gamescom indicated that all pre-orders for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Dragon Ball FighterZ would include early access to the open beta on January 13. At the time, only physical pre-orders were available, which meant that all PS4 and Xbox One physical pre-orders would get early access to the open beta. However, it was later revealed that only digital pre-orders via PSN and the Xbox Live Marketplace would get early access to the open beta.

To get into the open beta a day early, you need to pre-order the game from PSN or Xbox Live in the US (physical pre-orders work in Europe). Once you’ve pre-ordered, you need to go to the PSN or XBL store and download the specially marked “early access” version of the demo. This unlocks the demo a day early. After downloading the early access unlock, download the beta client from the PSN or XBL store and you’ll be able to play once the early access begins on January 13.

The confusion occurred because in North America only digital pre-orders from XBL and PSN get early access to the open beta, while in Europe physical pre-orders also get early access. So if you live in North America you’ll need a digital pre-order to get into the open beta a little earlier, but in Europe a physical pre-order will also grant early access. We don’t yet have confirmation on Japanese pre-orders, but we’ll be sure to update this article if any new information surfaces.
