If you are a Cities: Skylines fan and want to give Cities: Skylines II a shot, you are probably interested in whether your PC can run it and how you can optimize the game. Here are the System Requirements and best settings for Cities: Skylines 2.

Minimum PC System Requirements for Cities: Skylines 2

On paper, Cities: Skylines II has a modest minimum system requirement, and you should be able to run it on an older PC. However, there are some optimization issues on the game’s launch, which we expect to be resolved with a patch.

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 Home 64 Bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-6700K or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 (4 GB) or AMD Radeon RX 480 (8 GB)
  • Storage: 60 GB available space

Recommended PC System Requirements, on the other hand, display a PC configuration that’s somewhere between mid and high-end rigs of the current year.

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 Home 64 Bit or Windows 11
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-12600K or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 (10 GB) or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT (16 GB)
  • Storage: 60 GB available space

Best Performance PC Settings for Cities: Skylines 2

Some of these settings can also be tuned in the “Advanced” section. For some of the settings, I’ve given out two choices because tuning some settings too low may result in the game graphics just being extremely bad for some players.

  • Screen resolution: Use native if possible.
  • Display Mode: Fullscreen
  • VSync: Enable if you have screen tearing
  • Depth of Field Mode: Disabled
  • Global Graphics Quality: Custom (since we’ll be editing a lot)
  • Dynamic Resolution Scale Quality: Disabled
  • Anti-Aliasing Quality: None or FXAA. In the Advanced section of the Settings, you can additionally tune it.
  • Clouds Quality Settings: Disabled (if you do not want clouds at all) or Low
  • Fog Quality Settings: Disabled
  • Ambient Occlusion Quality: Disabled or Low
  • Global Illumination Quality: Low (You can tune this additionally in the Advanced section by moving the Ray Steps slider to the left)
  • Reflections Quality: Disabled or Low
  • Depth of Field Quality: Disabled
  • Motion Blur: Disabled
  • Shadow Quality: Low
  • Terrain Quality Settings: Medium or Low
  • Water Quality Settings: Very Low
  • Level of Detail: Very Low or Low
  • Animation Quality: Low
  • Texture Quality Settings: Very Low or Low
